Mercury Falls
By
Robert Kroese
"So
it turns out that my linoleum installer is in league with Satan."
Mercury is an angel, but he's
not that kind of angel. Though charming and quick-witted, he is a bit spoiled
and not really a team player. In fact, he's much more interested in playing
ping pong and making snowmen than taking any part in the impending
Apocalypse.
Christine is a reporter, fed up with writing about crazy cults devoted to the
end of the world. Just when she finally gets a real assignment, covering a
real story, it turns out that the real Apocalypse is on its way and has a
role for her.
Karl is the Antichrist and a dickweed.
Throw in a cast of heavenly bureaucrats and demons, a Harry Potter-like novel
that is taking the world by storm, and a race to
save the world and Mercury
Falls is a nonstop
joyride that won't let you stop laughing long enough to realize how
terrifying the whole concept really should be.
Robert Kroese is one of those authors who write
humor as easily as the rest of us scribble our names. Smart and hilarious,
every page is highly quotable and fun to read over and over again. If you
loved Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's
Good Omens, but wished it took place mostly in California
without all those pesky horsemen, Mercury
Falls is for you.
